I am grateful and honored to serve in this capacity especially because my parents were both international students here back in the 1990s and I was born and raised here on Southwestern’s campus. I remember growing up in the Townhomes, running around the playground, riding my bike up and down the tunnel to go see my father on campus. I have so many other fond memories of Southwestern and it is truly amazing how the Lord, after almost 20 years, led me back to Southwestern to prepare for the next step. I am now living in the Townhomes with my wife Michelle and baby John Yegun Jung and am working on my Master of Divinity.
I graduated from Moody Bible Institute in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry. God opened the door for me to come to Southwestern as it is the school my father graduated from. I never imagined I would be attending the same school that he attended when he was younger in his college days. For me to be walking in the same streets as my father did, going to the same classes as my father attended, breathing the same air and experiencing the same humid and stuffy weather as my father breathed and felt, and for me to worship and study the same Word of God as my father did is a privilege and a blessing. I was so little that I don’t remember anything about Southwestern, but I am thankful to be here and to cherish these moments by having fellowship with other brothers and sisters from all over the world to pursue godliness and become advocates of the truth.
I graduated with my Bachelors in Biology Fall of 2016 with the intention of going to veterinary school, but after spiritually wrestling with God I knew that my call was not vet school but to enter the ministry. (Genesis 32:24-30) I faced a lot of opposition from my family as they felt that I was throwing away my life by entering a vocation that would not be financially substantial to sustain a family. Despite the opposition, I decided to pursue seminary and begin my MDiv at Logsdon Seminary Fall of 2016 and was later sponsored by my home church to transfer to Southwestern. My current plans are to graduate Spring of 2021 and continue my studies by pursuing a ThM degree.
